Typeface
created around the Fifties by Bertocchio Joseph (1907-1978), known under
the Berto pseudonym. This Marseille native was a great figure of
the lithography. He used to draw his own alphabets for the composition
of his lithographic posters’ titles. The Berto type was redrawn according
to documents made up of an capitals alphabet as well as numbers. Inspired
of Uncial & Hebraic characters types, the co-education of the drawing
of this display type, reminds us the mediter- ranean culture which is the
one of its creator : Jo Berto. |
